Saturday 22 - Sunday 23 July

The Beaufort Companye & Friends recreate a Medieval Wedding and Foot Tourney in the Age of High Chivalry for the Late Medieval Period of the mid 15th Century.

Tensions exist and although the Wedding is supposed to be a time of great joy, the event is a powder keg of simmering rivalries. Each day will include a recreation of a medieval wedding, celebrations, a Foot tourney and Archery competition, Living History, arms & armour, and displays of costume and manners, concluding with a spectacular finale  Households are here to celebrate a wedding but not all want this happy event to happen, old rivalries and jealousies still abound – one in particular….

In 1464 there were simmering rivalries between the loyal  Yorkists and the faux Yorkists (including the Beauforts) – with whom King Edward was pursuing a conciliatory policy and many doubt the Beauforts loyalty as the family retains its power only through the House of Lancaster  and Margaret retains her hatred of Edward.  A weekend of treachery, royal diplomacy, weapons, combat and a wedding!
