Young people's stone carving and stained glass, and felting workshops

In partnership with the Memories and Memorials project the Heritage Skills Centre is hosting two days of training for young people in Stone Carving and Stained Glass. Almost every town and village has a war memorial in remembrance of those who laid down their lives for their country. The memorials take many forms and include beautiful stained glass windows and carved stone monuments and carefully compiled memorial books often using the iconic poppy image. Thanks to funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and Armed Forces Covenant we are able to offer young people a chance to discover the skills that were used to craft these beautiful and important monuments. There will also be a day's felting on offer focused on poppy imagery. Each course is one day long, and we'll also be running 'drop-in' sessions making simple paper books on both days.
