Visitor Update:
Lincoln Castle will be reopening its grounds only for visitors to enjoy from Saturday 23rd May. They will be open from 10am – 5pm, seven days a week. In order to uphold safe social distancing we are not opening up any of the buildings at this stage.

Please see below are newly introduced measures that we need to make you aware of:

  • Firstly, we are introducing a one way system. Our gateways are narrow (an annoying feature of a Norman castle but it had its benefits at the time!) and we can't create a 2 metre gap if we allow visitors to enter and exit at the same time. Entry in, will be through the main East Gate and access out, will be by the West Gate.
  • Secondly, we are going to set a maximum capacity level and when we reach this, we will kindly ask you not to queue to get in. That's because we are unable to guarantee you access, and we don't want to create any unnecessary gatherings in the Castle Square area. We want to ensure everyone's safety as much as possible.
  • Thirdly, we ask that you follow our usual Castle Code when taking the time to enjoy the castle grounds and its magnificent medieval backdrop.

And finally, we really want to get this right first time. Please help us achieve this by supporting and following our new measures.

Thank you,
The Lincoln Castle Team
