HES update June 2019

Share

We have had a very busy June with lots on and beginning the recruitment for our next set of traineeships! Our current trainees from Lincoln Cathedral, Heritage Lincolnshire and Archaeological Project Services helped out at Lincolnshire County Show last week, demonstrating their skills for the public. We were kindly given space by Heritage Lincolnshire and their stall won the "Highly Commended" prize!

Skills Fest 2019 was a big success with our HES trainees working alongside talented crafts people, from slate cutters to blacksmiths to wood carvers, to show visitors how important heritage skills are. We also kicked off our recruitment season and have begun the search for new HES trainees in a number of skills!

We are now searching for trainees in:

  • Historic Building Conservation
  • Heritage Plastering
  • Slate & Roofing

All three of these opportunities are unique and will focus on working within the historic building sector, learning specialist skills that allow the trainees to preserve older buildings for future generations.
If you are interested in applying, please email HES to request a role description and an expression of interest form, which you can then email back to us by the deadlines.

We are also offering free taster sessions to introduce potential applicants these roles. These will give you the chance to meet the trainers, learn more about the project and have a go at the skills.
Booking is required and can be done by emailing HES to reserve your space.

If you are most interested in the Historic Building Conservation placement the taster session for you is our Conservation & Construction Taster on Monday 8 July; but if the Slate & Roofing or Heritage Plastering placement are more up your street then our Traditional Roofing morning and Heritage Plastering Taster afternoon on Friday 12 July in Collyweston is where you want to go to try these traditional historic environment skills.
