HES Update September 2018

Share

It's been quiet at The Heritage Skills Centre recently but it's for a worthwhile reason! We have been busy launching the Historic Environment Skills project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund's Skills For the Future grant. Through HES, we will provide training in areas of heritage suffering from skills shortages, particularly in the heritage buildings sector. Working with our partners at Lincoln Cathedral and Heritage Lincolnshire, we are funding and supporting six trainees for 2018-19, providing them with the opportunity to pursue careers in the heritage sector by developing skills and accreditation in Joinery, Stone Masonry, Archaeology and Buildings Preservation Trust Management. They will be with us for 12 to 18 months learning their trades and will leave us ready to progress successfully with their vocations!

Thank you to everyone who applied for the bursaries and their interest in the project. We will start searching for our next cohort of trainees in April 2019 and in the meantime, we will provide regular updates of how the project progresses.
