Visitor update

Lincoln Castle has re-opened its grounds and Medieval Wall Walk for visitors to enjoy. Open from 10am – 5pm, seven days a week. From Monday 13th July the David PJ Ross Magna Carta Vault and Victorian Prison will open for visitors to enjoy once again. In order to uphold safe social distancing we have introduced some new measures that we need to make you aware of:

  • A one way system is in place around our whole site inclusive of the grounds, Medieval Wall Walk and Prison Buildings.
  • Entry in the Castle is through the main East Gate and access out, will be by the West Gate.
  • No maps or handouts will be distributed on site to prevent the spread of Covid-19, so why not pre-download your site map here.
  • We have set a safe maximum capacity level.
  • Visitors must prebook their Medieval Wall Walk tickets online here, you must book in advance.
  • Visitors must prebook their Castle Day ticket online here, please choose your preferred time of arrival to visit the Magna Carta Vault and the Victorian Prison. This ticket must be booked in advance giving you the opportunity to view the Medieval Wall Walk before or after your scheduled arrival time.
  • Annual pass holders will not need to prebook tickets but may be expected to queue on arrival for entry up to the Medieval Wall Walk or into the Magna Carta Vault.
  • Magna Carta is the only document on display.
  • Wheelchair access to the east section of the wall, and internal buildings will remain available but will be limited to two wheelchair users at any one time.
  • Follow our usual Castle Code when taking the time to enjoy the castle grounds and its magnificent medieval backdrop.

And finally, we really want to get this right first time. Please help us achieve this by supporting and following our new measures.
