Lincoln Castle FAQ's

Whilst we hope you find the answers to any of your queries elsewhere on our website, we have still compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help answer any questions you may have about our site.
Please note: our Medieval Wall Walk lift is not available for use, access to the walls is via the staircase only.

What are your opening times?

1st April 2023 to 29th October 2023
10.00am to 5.00pm

30th October 2023 to 28th March 2024 
10.00am to 4.00pm
Last admission is one hour before closing

We are open every day of the year except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

What is usually open?

If you require details about document rotation and availability please contact our Visitor Experience Team on 01522 782019.

Entry to the grounds is free and you are welcome to come and enjoy at your leisure. The Victorian Prison, David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault, and shop are all open. 

Langton's café is open for indoor catering and for a takeaway service. Our cafe offers a wide variety of food including warm panini's, sandwiches, light bites, children's options and drinks. The full menu can be seen on our website.

Are the grounds and attractions suitable for wheelchairs?

Yes, however the entrance via East gate does have a lot of cobbles due to the nature of the old building.

Will dietary needs be catered for?

We have a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free products on offer in Langton's café . Please feel free to ask for the dietary sheets available.

Will tap water be provided ?

Yes, tap water is provided please talk to our cafe staff who will be happy to help.

Will there be facilities to warm milk for my baby?

Yes, please talk to our cafe staff who will be happy to help.

Can I bring my re-usable cup?

As part of our future mission to be low carbon we will be able to serve your hot drink in your re-usable cup.

Can I bring a pram or pushchair into the attraction?

You are welcome to bring prams and pushchairs into the grounds. However the wall walk may not be suitable so in order to ensure the comfort of all our visitors we ask that you leave pushchairs and buggies in the designated space at East Gate.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes, visitors may bring their own food. Please don’t leave any litter behind.

Can I bring pets into the site?

Assistance guide dogs only are permitted on site. However we do have dog friendly weekends / days, please look out for these on our website.

Can I take photos in the attraction?

Photography is permitted inside the Castle grounds and buildings for non-commercial private use. No photography or video is permitted inside of the David PJ Ross Magna Carta Vault.
