Lincoln Castle FAQ's

We are delighted to be welcoming you back to Lincoln Castle. We have put in place specific measures to help keep you safe and here are some of our anticipated frequently asked questions which we hope will keep you informed and confident during your visit.

What are your opening times?
We open the gates at 10am and close at 5pm.  We are currently operating a one way system as the entrance ways are quite narrow.  So you should enter through the East Gate at Castle Square and leave by the West Gate opposite the Lawn complex.

What is actually open?
Entry to the grounds is free and you are welcome to come and enjoy at your leisure whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines.  We will be monitoring capacity throughout the day and would ask you not to queue if the grounds are full.

The Medieval Wall Walk, Victorian Prison and Magna Carta is open and tickets must be booked in advance and purchased online. Castle Day tickets have a timed entry to visit the Magna Carta vault please adhere to these times. You can however visit the Medieval Wall Walk before your timed entry or after visiting Magna Carta and the Victorian Prison. Your timed entry is for the newly lowered capacity of the attraction. We’re limiting the number of visitors to help everyone follow social distancing guidelines and ensure that we don't exceed our safe capacity. We are operating a one way system across the whole site. Wheelchair access to the east section of the wall will remain available but will be limited to two wheelchair users at any one time, this also applies to the Victorian Prison and Magna Carta vault, this is to ensure we can maintain your safety via social distancing.

Langton's café is open for a takeaway service only offering a wide variety of food including warm panini's, sandwiches, light bites, children's options and drinks. The full menu can be seen on our website.

The Heritage Skills Centre and gift shop remain closed although we are working hard to get these open as quickly and as safely as possible.  Visit our website to view our new online shop which offers a small variety of gifts and souvenirs.
